I have almost no technology devices for my science students from kindergarten thru 9th grade. Giving individual students access to the internet with tablets will allow them to use interactive virtual labs, amazing videos and so much more. This will enhance and expand their understanding of the world through the eyes of a scientist. Having tablets will allow them to create their own multi-media lab reports, vocabulary presentations, etc replete with pictures they take themselves from the hands-on portions of the activities. For example, my 7th graders on an individual basis, submit a multi-media presentation on endangered species using pictures, text, videos, music, special effects and in a youtube format so it can be posted on my wikipage. Other classes are able to perform virtual labs on everything from dissections to creating weather or making changes in the environment that shows the effect on the population of certain species. Right now they are having to use their personal devices to get this done or from devices I borrow from other teachers.
