My experiences throughout my first year of teaching inspired me to create a new class for my students that enables them to learn about history through engaging works of literature and film. This class is student led, and provides students with the opportunity to learn history through engaging works of literature they are interested in. The Complete Maus was chosen by students due to their interest in learning about the Holocaust. Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. His work depicts his father’s experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. With your help, we can bring history to life for my students. Maus will allow students to learn about a complex and life changing subject in an engaging and meaningful way.
