Hello everyone! My name is Sarah Johnson and I am a 3rd and 4th grade Special Education Teacher at UCAN Academy. UCAN Academy is located in Chicago, Illinois. UCAN is a large non-profit organization that serves 10,000 at-risk children, youth and families across Illinois through more than 30 programs that create a healing process for youth who have experienced trauma. UCAN Academy is just one of their many amazing programs. UCAN is a Therapeutic Day School. The students I teach have severe emotional and behavioral disabilities and have been placed in an alternative setting that can better help their needs and individualize their education.
