Our students need to use a variety of sensory tools to achieve optimal success in our classroom. With this project we will be able to utilize sensory integration tools and resources to achieve more complex learning and behavior. Sensory challenges can affect the student's ability to take in information, participate in social situations, write, respond to requests, and maintain a calm and ready to work state. Throughout the school day, students may become overwhelmed which may result in anxiety or stress, but with the use of these tools we hope to alter the environment for student success. For my students that require vestibular input they will use the trampoline and teeter popper. The kids that are tactile seekers will use the paint, playdough, clay, kinetic sand, fidget toys, therapy putty, wiki sticks, and stress balls. The ocean wave projector will reach my visual and auditory seekers. We hope to make our classroom a place of support and comfort.
