Help us add some SPOOKY SCIENCE in October at Sea, Sand, and Stars! We will start a creepy crawly colony of roaches and crickets while providing an enriching STEM experience for the students! Roaches!?! These are filthy insects that carry diseases, infest homes, are unsanitary, and just plain disgusting. Right? Wrong! Most roach species are not pests, despite popular belief. Plus, they are a yummy and nutritious treat for our fish and reptiles! The students will use STEM practices to design and build a breeding colony. Then, they will learn about the life cycle of the roach while providing food for our animals at Sea, Sand, and Stars! What else does that teach? You are correct: the food chain! We are excited about bringing so many other science lessons in with this ongoing project, too!
