My hope for this project is to give our middle school students new, fun opportunities to build social emotional and critical thinking skills through playing board games. A board game collection will also give our students structured social activities that will keep their brains engaged after school and during lunch. We want to fill our middle school game collection with a variety of competitive and cooperative games that help build social skills. The cooperative games will give our students unique opportunities to build relationships by communicating and negotiating. They will also be able to make plans and decisions together that will help them reach a common goal. Competitive games will teach students about good sportsmanship and celebrating others successes. This game selection has games that rely more on strategy and less on luck. This means that during game play, students will build critical thinking skills as they problem solve, plan ahead, and use logic and reasoning. And of course these are fun and engaging games our students will love!
