Each year our school selects a theme for a family STEM night. Students collaborate, create, and build. We then invite families in to play and check out the things they have made.
The students LOVE these events! We have great family turn out and the students get so excited and involved in the whole process!
This years theme is based on creating marble runs. Students will work in collaborative groups to plan, design, and build a working marble run. Our younger students will use the marble run kits to introduce them to basic building ideas. The marble run kits will provide some scaffolding for the younger students who may have very little experience building a marble run. The night of the event each participant will receive a marble
to play!
My students need to have many varied experiences with collaborating and problem solving. This project will give my students that experience in a highly engaging manner. Student will then carry this learning experience with them as they continue their education.
