Recess is a time where our students can play and interact with friends. It is especially a gift to enjoy time with others after a year of being away from each other. For some of our children, finding a friend can be just as challenging as academics in the classroom. A buddy bench will help all students to make friends so that they don't have to spend recess alone. Whenever they feel like they are finding it difficult to make a friend, they can go to the buddy bench and become buddies with others that are also in need of a friend. As the counselor I know how important it is to feel a sense of community and belonging and I'd like to give my students every opportunity to achieve that feeling at school. A buddy bench can be an excellent way to provide social inclusion to all students.
