My students have learning disabilities. All have specific learning disabilities; I also have a student with Autism. All of my kids thrive on games and hands-on activities. It makes learning fun for them and engages them without knowing they are actually learning. It is important to use hands-on activities to increase their understanding in math and reading. My seventh-grade students are reading below a third-grade reading level. They need lots of explicit instruction in basic reading skills. I want to do the best I can to teach them how to read, but in order to do that, there are materials needed. I've placed games in my cart that can help my students learn how to read and do basic arithmetic. Incorporating games into teaching will engage my students a lot more than a lecture. All the materials will be used to enhance their learning in my classroom.
