Hello! My name is Kellie Preston and I work in Lufkin, Texas. I teach deaf and hard of hearing students starting at age 3 until they finish 2nd grade. Creating an environment that is inviting and relaxed is my top priority for this next school year. Most of my students experience frustration in communication due to a lack of a strong language foundation. This is a daily challenge. They need a place to learn that is consistent in routines and promotes acceptable behaviors. When students enter an atmosphere that is bright and is overloaded with visual distractions it increases the possibility of becoming anxious and over stimulated. I need to maintain routines and rules in a loving and nurturing style without causing more angst and frustration that they already endure daily.
