My students will use the Scholastic magazines during small group instruction. This is the time of the day when I can pull small groups of students to really dissect text and guide them in their learning. This is the time of day my instruction becomes most effective, especially for struggling readers. We use similar standards to the common core, which is a very rigorous set of standards. I feel for my children because these new expectations are far from easy and they are already at a disadvantage due to their home lives. I believe these magazines will be extremely useful in a small group setting. I believe it will excite them to want to read more and become better readers. I love that these magazines expose children to current events and culture diversity from all over the world. I hope these topics will spark interest in my students to want to learn more. These materials will definitely be beneficial in increasing my students comprehension abilities and overall academic success. My vision is that these materials will increase student engagement and participation during small group instruction. These magazines will assist in helping them become more active learners. I know they will absolutely love to have their very own, personal magazine to help with their learning. I believe it will change their lives' for the better in several ways. It will assist in them in becoming better readers, as well as expose them to topics they wouldn't learn about else where.
