My students often say that they do not like reading and can't find books they like. As an English teacher, this breaks my heart, and next year I am re-doing my curriculum to incorporate more student choice in reading. I chose books from a variety of genres for a variety of reading levels to support all my students in growing as readers. I would like to have a classroom library full of books that can engage the different types of readers I will have in my classroom. There is so much research showing that the way to improve reading skills is to read, and I want to provide my students that encourage them to do just that!
