There has been a shift in the way education and educators now know that students best learn. A glance into a classroom no longer shows desks in rows, teachers giving lectures from the front of the room, and students furiously scribbling notes to memorize the information. That peek through the door now shows a collaborative environment of students working together to solve problems and discover the learning. Students are engaged and excited. Students are excited to make mistakes and persevere. Students are taking ownership of their knowledge and working hard to grow and become the future of tomorrow. Students are ready to change the world.
"The Times-They are a Changing" (Thank you, Bob Dylan). Unfortunately, the classroom furniture has not. Studies have shown that kids need movement throughout the day. As the demands on students have increased, the allotted time for movement and fun has decreased. Replacing the metal chairs with stability/yoga balls will help alleviate some of that decrease. Students sitting on these daily will help increase overall muscle movement, help develop balance and coordination, and engage both sides of the students' brains, which helps them to stay focused on learning.
We thank-you for your time.
