These novels will be used as mentor novels or read aloud texts during reading workshop. It is so important that every student has an individual copy of the text to work with. While reading these books, students will track themes and authors purpose. Students will also learn how to collect and pull quotes as evidence for a claim. I want to deepen my students critical thinking and comprehension skills. Having a few class sets of mentor texts will allow my students and I to have plenty of materials to read throughout the year to help us learn and develop as readers.
