My students are a diverse group of learners. They have different learning and working styles. Some work best at a busy table able to check in with others throughout their work time. Others work best alone on the rug, sitting with a clipboard with one classmate nearby. Others work well sitting in the classroom library leaning back and enjoying the quiet. And others have the most success when their seat offers a little movement. Providing my students with more flexible seating options would allow them to make their own independent choices about where and how they work! They will build independence, stamina and focus and be able to reflect upon their choices. The materials listed in this project will give students many more choices! Currently they have only tables and chairs and a rug to sit on. For some students, these options are just too limiting and do not provide them with a space to be successful and focus. Hokki stools are great seats for active children as they easily move back and forth. Carpet squares, lap trays and rectangular rugs will allow students to sit anywhere in the room that helps them focus. The wooden bench and cushion will give students a comfortable place to sit in the classroom library. By donating to this project, you will help my students be more comfortable, increase their focus and attention span and, in turn, help them achieve more!
