As mentioned before, my classroom includes students that are part of the districts life skills program. On average there are 25 wiggly six and seven year olds in my classroom. These Hokki stools will support these students (life skills) in addition to general education students with high energy and low attention spans. In previous years, parents have purchased their own “wiggle seats or cushions” for their student. These seats/cushions were beneficial and supported the students while they sat at their table groups. I support movement within my classroom by regular brain breaks using online programs that get students out of their seats and moving. I have noticed that the focus on academics is greater after these brain breaks and that students show greater attention spans after the group movement. I see using these stools at our small group table while guiding small group lessons in reading instruction and math centers. If an individual student would benefit by having the stool at their own table I would accommodate this student with these stools.
