My kindergarten students love to have fun, sing and move around. While on the recess yard, my students see some of the older students playing with sports balls during their PE time. My students often ask if they could ask coach to borrow a ball, but there are not enough for the PE class let alone some for my little kindergartners to use. I would like to surprise my students will basketballs, kick balls jump ropes and hula hoops to play with on the recess yard. I would also like to show my students that we can be active inside on those days that are too hot, or rainy. Providing indoor activities such as jumbo playing cards, dominoes, a balance beam and bean bags to throw in a bucket will get my students brains and bodies really moving! Being a high poverty school, we have 100% participation in the free breakfast and lunch program, but if a child comes in after the bell they miss breakfast. Many time these children often complain of hunger later on in the morning. I would like for us to have extra snacks in the room to be able to give to students who are hungry in the morning or as a little snack in the afternoon if a student forgot theirs. I want to help fight hunger so my students are able to focus on learning during the day.
