My students tend to have sensory integration delays. To help decrease their delays, I try to provide activities that include hands-on activities such as clay, cutting, and lacing. To help decrease the delays, stimulation to the senses sends signals to the children’s brains that help to strengthen the neural pathways important for all types of learning. Sensory activities and sensory tables facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play and create. My students enjoy the experiences allowed when their hands are in sand or water. It helps calm and center them. They feel excitement when searching in rice for objects. Searching for objects helps to develop sensory skills that are needed when exposed to other textures.
