Welcome Everyone, I am an elementary education teacher of twenty seven students on the West-side of Detroit in an area called Warrendale. My students are of African-American and Hispanic descent with 99% of them receiving free or reduced school meals. Our school is located in a high poverty, neighborhood surrounded by many burned down houses, failing business on top of high crime and drug abuse. I grew up in this very neighborhood and experienced similar struggles of my students. Most of my entire teaching experience has been in this community. In every student I see a piece of myself or one of my own siblings. We are learning and growing together despite the adversities surrounding our community. My students are the most positive, most inspiring young souls I know. I am an advocate of their success and their abilities to support their community and even change the world!
