My students need various floor furniture that will better facilitate learning. My students spend more than half the school day on the floor, yet the entirety of our classroom floor is vinyl tile. I use 2x2 carpet squares for the students to sit on during meetings and lessons but this is not a long-term nor very viable solution. Therefore, my students students need a large area carpet that they can feel comfortable on during learnings experiences and classroom meetings. They also need a carpet for the floor of our library, where they spend time reading and browsing books. Similarly, my students would benefit from a set of small portable cushions that they can bring to various locations in the classroom. Allowing the students the freedom to move around the classroom gives them opportunities to find spaces in which they can work and learn at their best while also fulfilling a desire for independence.
