My students love to express themselves through playing instruments. The upper grades specifically focus on recorder. While my students enjoy the recorder, it has proven to be difficult for some of my students to latch onto. That's where this project comes in. It is my hope that adding thirty ukuleles to our class will help differentiate instruction and give students another avenue to explore music. This will ultimately result in a better sense of community within the class and more confidence and creative expression in each student. As one of my favorite music educators, Carl Orff, said, "Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand." I want all of my students to have a safe place where they can be involved in the wonderful community of music.
