The materials and supplies I am requesting will help increase the amount of time students spend involved in indoor physical activity. Most people often think that physical activity must occur outdoors. My classroom consist of 8 interest areas. The areas do not promote physical and active movement. I would love to add an interest area specifically for physical activity. The tactile step and stones will be used to enhance students physical, gross motor, balancing, traveling, and traveling skills. The balance beam will enhance students ability to balance and travel various ways. The various balls will be used to enhance students fine motor strengths and coordination. The jump ropes will be used keep students active in order to decrease child obesity. The parachute will enhance hand and eye coordination, as well as, let students work collaboratively to strengthen their muscles. Activity helps children stay healthy and happy. Physical inactivity is a major risk factor for developing obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and diseases. Increased physical activity has been associated with increased life expectancy. As I'm engaged with students I will teach them about how to eat healthy. We are servicing students with disabilities and the implementation of indoor physical activity will allow me to meet the needs of all learners.
