As a recently new librarian to a new school, the first thing that I noticed was that my school`s library does not have classroom sets of books for my teachers to use. As a previous classroom teacher and avid user of classroom sets, I am wanting to fix this problem as soon as possible for my teachers and students. This classroom set of books will help students to learn together about the variety of reading skills that are required by their third, fourth, or fifth grade teacher. Some reading skills that would be discussed while reading the book are: genre, characters, settings, point of view, main idea, inferences, and author`s purpose. Writing is a big part of our curriculum and writing prompts can be created from the book.
