Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis said, "There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all." My dream is to inspire a love of books in each of my students. Right now, the biggest barrier preventing my students from developing appropriate literacy skills is a lack of access to books. My school is Title 1 school with a extremely high population of students living in poverty. These children do not have the privileges of having a personal book collection at home or having access to reading materials at their level. I want to provide them with that access by expanding my classroom library. I currently have a very limited book collection, and the students have already exhausted the options I've provided. I want to add a variety of books to my classroom library. This will help feed the appetites of the students who already love to read and help draw in the more reluctant readers, as well.
