Scholastic News is a wonderful resource that provides high-interest nonfiction reading material. The magazines are visually engaging and exciting. We will use these during our social studies block. They will be used to help my students improve their reading and keep them informed on current events. The students struggle with nonfiction text and text features so these magazines will be a great addition to our class. We will also make many connections with important reading skills such as compare and contrast, main idea, and cause and effect. The subscription also comes with online resources (videos and games) that we can use on our classroom computers and Teamboard.
