This class set of novels will make a difference to students as they will get to read about a controversial topic, a requirement of the curriculum. So many people formulate opinions, but don't know the whole story. Students may already have opinions about the topic, however, may be persuaded to change their minds. This will be a great example for students to take preconceived opinions and new ideas from the novel to formulate a carefully thought opinion to defend in an academic writing piece. This will begin to change the way students think before making concrete decisions. A process needed as they grow into adults.
