Too often black and brown youth of Chicago are written off as troubled and failing dropouts. But when they step through our school doors, we behold their resiliency, determination, creativity, and conviction. Many of our students have been pushed out of multiple schools, been incarcerated, and/or have spent months out of the classroom. Through restorative justice and social/emotional learning, we empower students to engage in critical thinking and social transformation, from the classroom to their communities to their own homes. They create their own pathways toward a high school diploma, and we provide the philosophical foundation based on self-determination, the methodology of self-actualization, and the ethics of self-reliance.
