Playing with blocks allows students to explore balance, building, working with others, as well as engage in language. Through play to learn, students begin to take on leadership roles of the builder, the architect, and designer. Writing and language are incorporated throughout play to learn as students draw and describe their structures. Students will use math manipulatives to add, subtract, sort, play, and organize. All manipulatives will be used to provide students with opportunities to gain number sense. Research has shown that children need to play. As such, I will incorporate play to learn. These products will allow me to provide my students with hands on learning experiences.
