Our students need music and music education to enrich their learning experiences. Our school has a handful of worn out band instruments, but these instruments benefit only a select few students. Unfortunately, these instruments can only be individually rented by one student all year. This has left the vast majority of our population without the opportunity to frequently make music using a real instrument. Ukuleles would be perfect not only for our situation but also our population of creative and expressive students. These instruments will allow every single student in the school frequent access to music. They will facilitate the students acquisition of how to read and write music. Students will be taught about songwriting and composition, and they will be able to express themselves in beautiful new ways.
