I will use these materials to help my students connect learning to the real world. With the cooking lessons students will learn math-through measuring and counting ingredients, science through mixing ingredients to create new products, social skills by working together to finish a task and so so much more!
I will then use these projects to teach economics-we will discuss the price of the ingredients and discuss how a finish product can be used to create revenue. In my classroom the students will be able to share these treats they have created with their friends in other classrooms. Will also teach them a sense of community in sharing with others. As well as they will have a sense of pride in starting a task and seeing it through completion.
The students need the convection oven, toaster oven, baking utensils, drying racks, pans, cookie sheets and other items listed to create their projects. They also need to see that in order to create a successful project, even if it is a delicious one, that you need the right tools to complete the task. We will discuss what each utensils purpose is and how we could also use and discuss which tool is best for which item we are baking.
