My students are amazing, and they are super passionate about life in general. They love music, and they love developing their talents/skill and sharing their talents with others. The school is located in Oregon, and music programs are being cut left and right. The unemployment rate in this state is one of the highest, and the county that I teach in has the highest unemployment rate in the state. Through these obstacles the students and the parents understand the importance of supporting education and arts in the schools. Jazz Band is a huge part of our community. We get to hear from professionals that give free educational programs in school and also participate in our town's jazz festival. The students are always learning and giving back to the community.
