The need for calculators in my math class is a daily necessity when solving simple to complex mathematical equations or simply just checking their work. The 7th and 8th-grade mathematics curriculum focuses heavily on the students' ability to solve mathematical equations that require multiple steps in various types of problems. Calculators are fast and accurate for students to use. Identifying the classroom setting 100% of my students are students with an IEP, and depending on legality, a calculator is a need that must be legally met. However, scientific calculators can be expensive in which families may not have the money to purchase them, and middle schoolers loose things which can be extra money need that families cannot afford. To have a class set of scientific calculators, this would help minimize the student's responsibility to remember to bring a calculator daily, to help parents financially, and to support learning needs.
