For most, if not all of my students, school is a safe place, a place where they have a consistent routine and a person who truly cares about them. Many of my students come from families who are at or below the poverty level. They come from broken homes, and have already faced some form of traumatic experience. There is also a high transient rate and students often move from school to school each school year. The 32 students I start with In August, will not be the same students I end the year with. I work hard to provide them a safe, and comfortable classroom to come to every day.
