I need to stock my classroom library. I switched to a new grade level, and my new classroom has not a single book. I do have books that are my own, but they are mainly picture books that I use with instruction. I have asked for many books to create a classroom library that is easily accessible to my students with a variety of books, genres, and reading levels. These books will be at the disposal of my students. I want students to be able to choose from a plethora of books to read independently. With these books, students will be able to have 2 or more books in their personal book bucket to read as they choose. When students have choice, they are more engaged with their reading. My students are developing into lifelong readers. They enter my classroom excited to read and learn. They love books that are imaginative and take them into another world. They love books that give them new information to share with family and friends. They love to show each other funny or exciting parts and make meaningful connections. They love to relate to the characters and put themselves into the story. When a reader engages in a story, there are no limitations. There are no rules to where minds can go while they are engaged with books. The possibilities are endless.
