These books will allow me to work with my kids and help them improve their reading and comprehension skills. The kids will be assigned a role and participate in a book study with their College Bound peers to increase communication and collaboration skills. Success at the university level mainly depends on existing pre-entry college attributes, including the mastery of some fundamental academic skills [like reading] (Tinto, 1993). By giving these 8th graders this book and an opportunity to participate in a book study, you are preparing them for success in college. You are handing them the resources that they need and showing them that you have faith in their abilities to reach their dreams.
