Although I have been a teacher for five years, this is my first classroom in the United States. My husband and I spent the last five years in the Middle East teaching at at American school in Kuwait. There are many aspects of my experiences that I plan to bring to my students, including all the cultural experiences I gained while living over there. One thing I cannot provide my students with yet is a classroom library. Living internationally meant living from suitcases and unfortunately my classroom library had to stay behind in Kuwait. It is my hope that with the help of your donations, my students' imaginations will run wild and their love of books will come alive! Kindergarten is such a critical year for children when it comes to developing an opinion on learning and reading. I want each of my children to feel an excitement and eagerness when entering our classroom library each day. It is important that my students have the opportunity to have books of varying levels and content at their little fingertips. I'm requesting a variety of books including Help-Yourself Book Boxes, The Paper Bag Princess, Helpers in My Community, The Grouchy Ladybug, The Mixed-Up Chameleon, Smelly Socks, Whose's Hat is This?, Whose Vehicle is This? Green Eggs and Ham, My Friend is Sad, The Cat in the Hat and Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten. Having a wide variety ensures that each child finds a book that speaks to them and sparks the interest we want them to have. I promise that if you provide the books, I will provide the tools and inspiration necessary to grow a classroom of readers! Thank you!
