A new set of whiteboards would have a big impact in my classroom, as we use them on a daily basis, for many different things. Students use them to work out math problems, answer questions, make notes as they work through projects, and as a general tool for organizing their thoughts. As a teacher whiteboards are an invaluable learning tool; I use them often for quick, formative assessments that help guide my instruction. A class set of “Freak the Mighty” will allow my students to really engage in the study of this piece of relateable literature. This book promotes not only tolerance, but the celebration of uniqueness, much needed traits of today’s student.
