I have spent my educational career working to craft an environment that is calming and welcoming to students while using educational resources and projects that challenge them and grow a love of learning. My project can be split into two categories: The resources and the environment. Middle schoolers require a very special kind of teaching - one that balances the rigor of new challenges with compassion and the understanding that they're just beginning to figure themselves out as a person. The items in my cart will be used to create a comfortable learning environment while providing them with resources for higher-level learning. We will use things such as pillows for flex seating and wiggle bands for energetic bodies. I will also provide them with things to help learning be more collaborative: clipboards so that they can move around and learn with each other and chart paper for anchor charts to visualize what we're learning. The TPT gift card would allow me to find high-quality learning resources from talented educators that I might not have had had the talent or time to create myself. With these resources, I hope to create a classroom that is comfortable, challenging, and is a place that my students truly wish to be every day.
