This fall my class will begin a new technology-based interactive reading program. My class will begin the year with 16 students and could have as many as 21 by year's end. My district has guaranteed only 6 Samsung Chromebooks for use with the new reading program. Our classroom currently has only one laptop computer for student use. I am requesting funding for another 6 Chromebooks in order to take full advantage of this exciting new reading program. These Chromebooks will serve as a crucial vehicle for my students to navigate this new technology-based reading program. The program includes individual lessons that teach, reinforce, and integrate learned skills. I believe that with the use of these Chromebooks my students will have a valuable aid to excite and encourage them to become improved and enthusiastic readers. Without the full number of Chromebooks, my students will be forced to share resources and many students will not have the individual time necessary to engage in the interactive learning opportunities.
