I have selected several math manipulatives from Lakeshore Learning that are specifically related to the common core standards for the third grade. Flash cards for multiplication and division, games like 'Smath where they compete to solve grade appropriate math problems, and place value activities will give them multiple avenues to strengthen their understanding of the 3rd grade common core standards in math. My approach to instruction depends on a "workshop model" where groups engage in different avenues of self directed mathematics, allowing for targeted instruction from myself. As students engage with manipulatives, and other self directed mathematical activities, I can deliver to small groups very specific instruction.
