There are many known benefits to playing strategy based role-playing (RPG) games like Dungeons and Dragons. Research shows that the benefits to playing D&D are both social and academic. Socially, kids who play RPGs have to work cooperatively together. Academically, they’re reading, they are creatively solving problems, they’re researching, and they’re even doing a little light math when they consider the probability of the roll of the dice and adding up the numbers on the dice. Through the donation of these materials and the creation of this club an opportunity unlike any that these students currently have is being created.
