Having a subscription to Scholastics News would expose my students to current events. Which would allow my students to begin creating opinions about the many issues that affect their daily lives. Not only this, but this subscription would also allow my students to begin thinking of ways they can change the world around them, beginning with their school, homes, and neighborhood. Scholastics News does an amazing job of informing young readers of current events in a way that allows students to comprehend without being confused with information that may not be suited for such a young audience. All of this without even mentioning all the different reading skills students would be able to strengthen by reading informational text.
