I will be teaching first grade for the first time this year! In order to provide the best learning setting for my students, it is important for me to have a classroom library. This will help inspire a love of reading and learning in my students and broaden their horizons with many different types of stories. However, I need a lot of books to get to that point. I specifically want to provide my students with books about people who look like them. For that reason, I specifically asked for book sets that feature African Americans, Latino people, and Asian cultures as well. This is a more accurate representation of my classroom, and for that reason I chose these sets. Ideally, I can set a culture of inclusion in my classroom, and the students can identify with characters they are reading about as well.
