These resources will be used to create visual supports that help students to functionally communicate as well as understand and use language. All of the students I work with have individual education plans (IEPs) with specific goals targeted to their needs. All students with speech and language goals benefit from visual supports. These visuals connect what they see with language. Language and communication skills are vital to fulfill the human need to connect. Whether my students are using pictures in place of verbal words to communicate a need or using pictures to promote understanding of text, visual supports increase early early language skills necessary for classroom participation L.K.1. The more these visual supports can be in color and real life pictures, the easier it is for the students to make those connections.
