My students struggle with finding their place in the world, figuratively and literally. We would be using globes and maps to help us with concepts such as latitude and longitude and relative location. The advantage of the globe is that it promotes visual accuracy. Students need to use a globe frequently if they are to form accurate mental maps. I am requesting globes and atlases to facilitate my students in their quest to become members of the global community. I want geography to come alive for my students. Globes and atlases will provide students with hands-on learning, which encourages higher-level thinking skills. These resources will allow students to sense that they are part of something much bigger than their home, neighborhood, or school.
