With the population I serve, many are disadvantaged in their home environments. The demographics have high poverty and childhood trauma. This unfortunately carries through to their performance in school. I have full faith in my students and want to create a classroom environment with opportunity to live to their fullest potential. One small way I can do this is by providing alternative seating with stability balls. Behavior problems, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Sensory Processing Disorder are all common in my classroom, and I believe this is a great tool to help my students succeed rather than be punished for their needs.
