Research indicates that implementing a social-emotional approach in schools can make a real difference. Teaching social and emotional skills helps improve school and class climate, increases student motivation, reduces problem behavior, gives a space to talk about mental health, teaches study skills and habits, helps students set and meet goals and much more. Teaching social emotional learning through literacy is one of my goals this year. These items will allow an opportunity to integrate our social emotional skills with our literacy skills as well as build a library of books for student read aloud.
