Kindergarteners get excited about everything! Learning and moving go hand-in-hand. The more excited they get about learning, the more they need to move and express themselves. I want to encourage and nurture that excitement so that our love for learning is never diminished. Wobble stools will allow my students to work and move at the same time. They can rock, or fidget, safely while using their core to stabilize the stool. They will be able to use their natural energy and channel it into their creative thinking and problem solving. I allow my students to make their own choices to help them focus and fully engage in their learning. They are allowed to choose whatever seat, or workspace, they feel will be "just right" for how they are feeling and the work they need to do. Flexible seating and choosing a workspace is its own lesson in problem solving and becoming an independent thinker. When students are given a choice in their workspace, along with the ability to be physically active, their motivation and focus increase dramatically. I have seen amazing results in academic as well as social-emotional growth when children are given some independence and trust to make their own decisions. Wobble stools will be a fantastic addition to our other flexible seating options. These choices are about nurturing healthy minds and bodies.
