During our reading block, our first grade team would like to add a listening station so students can listen to books being read on headphones as they follow along in their own books. Listening to books being read fluently is both engaging and essential for early literacy instruction. We are hoping to add materials for three new listening centers and supplemental leveled reading books. These materials will help our students learn to read independently. Kids must "learn to read" before they can "read to learn," so we hope to build reading skills so students can grow into informed and empowered readers and leaders in Chicago!
