My students unfortunately do not all have access to technology outside of the classroom. Some also struggle with having materials to read. Since my classroom is a self-contained classroom, my students have many different reading levels. I have provided many books within the classroom, however the students would have access to thousands more books (and adventures) through the Kindle fires. One of the most exciting parts of teaching is getting the students interested in reading! This can be done by finding what interests them and what they love to read. I hope that by using the Kindles my students will have access to a topic that stimulates their minds and piques their interest! Kindles would also be helpful during daily 5 when the students read with me. I would be able to have all my students read the same book at the same time! The Kindles will also give the opportunity to use learning games and apps that will further enhance the students learning!
